Tree planting on the embankment — a global greening drive

Rotary International President Ian Riseley set the goal that during his term every Rotarian in the world should plant one tree. With some 1,200,000 members, the plan matched its own ambition.

Our club had fifteen members at the time — and 15 maple and rowan saplings were planted on the embankment, in Friendship Park.

The planting was carried out with the city greenery utility JKP „Zelenilo“, deliberately on the embankment, because that stretch is designated for planting in the city's own plans. A sapling put in the wrong place does not survive; this one was done so the trees would last.
