Aid for victims of the catastrophic floods

In May 2014 Serbia was struck by catastrophic floods. Our club responded in two ways — immediately, and then deliberately.

At once

As early as 17 May, members organised themselves spontaneously and made an urgent donation of tinned food, sweets for children and warm clothing, which we sent through the Red Cross as first aid for evacuated families.

Then

At the regular meeting on 22 May, a unanimous decision was taken to redirect all funds earmarked for a gathering with the clubs from Kragujevac, Smederevo and Veliko Gradište into a special fund for flood relief.

On the District leadership's recommendation, the money was transferred to a joint account — so that pooling would multiply the effect, rather than scattering it across small individual donations.
