Greeting cards for a happier childhood

„Greeting cards for a happier childhood" is our club's longest-running project. It has been held since 2009 and comes in two parts.

Part one: the art competition

The competition is open to primary school pupils from Pančevo and its surrounding villages. Each pupil submits one work, in any technique. The subject is free and left to the children's imagination — covering whatever they consider important for a happier childhood and a better future.

The point is not only the drawing. The competition encourages creative expression and a sense of compassion at the same time — because the children's work genuinely ends up helping someone.

A jury selects the best works and awards first, second and third place separately for years one to four and five to eight, together with a special prize for the art teacher whose pupils have the most works on the shortlist.

Part two: cards, exhibition, funds

New Year cards and calendars are printed from the best motifs. The money raised from their sale goes towards helping children in our city.

The 2014 edition

Around 400 works were submitted, from which the jury shortlisted 50. The exhibition opened on 24 December in the foyer of the Cultural Centre, with the winners announced, prizes awarded, and the charity cards and calendars presented.

The campaign was covered by TV Pančevo and by the Telegraf.rs portal, which published a long illustrated piece featuring cards from that year and the previous five.
